Y por fin, otra batalla / At last, another battle

A principios de septiembre Nirkhuz y servidor jugamos una partida al Arcana. Él llevaba sus enanos "de toda la vida" y yo, viendo la caja con los samurai debajo de 30 kilos de trastos, opté por usar la lista del imperio (si, el de Warhammer) que creo un forero anglosajón tiempo ha.

In early september Nirkhuz and me played another Arcana game. He chose his everydaydwarves while i, after seeing my samurai army box sitting under 30 kg of trash, decided to use the empire army list someone created in the forums long ago.

Esta fue la disposición del campode batalla. Nirkhuz metió sus enanos de Mithril dentro de la cuña que hacía el rio, mientras sus ballesteros se desplegaban detras del bosque. Yo desplegué un poco al tuntun, con los proyectiles sobre la colina, que era uno de los objetivos de Nirkhuz junto con la caballería. Yo por mi parte debía matar a los mithril y al general, que iban todos juntos.

This was the battlefield's disposition. Nirkhuz put his mithril warriors inside the triangle formed by the river while his crossbowmen and clan dwarves started just behind the forest. I placed my troops in a happy-go-lucky manner, with projectile troops over the hill, whichwas one of Nirkhuz's objectives alongside my cavalry.I had to kill his mithril dwarves and his general(who was inside the mithril unit)

Por una vez en la vida se me ocurrió desplegar a los lanceros esp... digo imperiales en formación cerrada. Ofrecian un blanco muy jugoso a la artillería nirkhuziana, pero de todas formas confiaba en que, llegados al cuerpo a cuerpo, valdría la pena.

Just for this time i placed my spearmen in close formation. They would be an irresistible target for Nirkhuz's artillery, but i was confident their superior value once close combat started was worth the risk.

Además estrenaba espadachines, guiados por un heroe a pie (Nirkhuz no paraba de decir que era demasiado medieval para este ejército, pero bueno...)

Also, i used my swordmen for the first time, alongside a hero. Nirkhuz pointed out that he looked too medieval for an imperial army, but...

Los primeros turnos nos vieron  avanzar a ambos. Nirkhuz quería lanzar sus mithril a ganarse la paga mientras yo estaba amagando con mi caballería.

The first turns saw us both rushing forward. Nirkhuz was itching to put his dwarves into action while i was menacing his troops with my knights

Lo bueno de este juego es que las unidades se mueven bastante deprisa, así que al ver a los mithril cruzan el rio por el centro les cargué con mi caballería ¡que estaba en el flanco! En el intercambio de golpes el general enano casi se muere (le atacaron un heroe y un general humano a la vez, y el heroe le colocó todoslos ataques...), mientras los mithril fileteaban a mis caballeros.

A good thing about this game is that units canmove really fast, so after seeing the mithril dwarves starting to croos the river in the center i charged them with my cavalry, which had been at the flank! In the ensuing melee the dwarf general almot died (he was attacked by a generaland a hero at the same time, and the hero alone inflicted him 3 wounds...), while the mithril ones cut across my knights.

Y llegados a este punto a Nirkhuz le entró la genialidad y decidió teleportar sus enanos de clan directamente cargando a las unidades de la colina. La conversación que tuvimos fue algo así como esto:

- Oye Javier, que si teleportas en contacto peana con peana le das derecho al contrario a tirar contra magia, y silo pierdes tus chicos se esfuman. Solo tienen magia 1, pero aun así...-

- Nada nada, en estos juegos hay que arriesgar. Tu tira el dado -

At this point of the battle, Nirkhuz had his own genius moment when he decided to teleport his clan dwarves directly charging my troops over the hill. We had a conversation like this one:

- Javier, if you teleport your troops into base contact your opponent rolls against his magic attribute, and if he passes your unit perishes. They only have magic 1, but... -

- In this kind of games you have to take risks. Roll a die... -

Y nadie volvió a ver a sus enanos de clan.
Mientras en el centro se lió pardísima, el general enano murió y los mithril acabaron huyendo delante de la caballería. Aquí decidimos dejarlo porque ya no había mucho que pudieran hacer los enanos.

And no one saw his clan dwarves ever.

Meanwhile in there was a carnage in the center of the table, the dwarf general died and the mitrhil dwarves broke and fled.We decided to stop there as there was nothing much left to do for the remaining dwarves.

Y así acabó otra sangrienta y divertida tarde en Arcana. Veremos cuando jugamos la siguiente :(
And so ended another fun & bloody battle in Arcana. I wonder when we will play the next one :(
