28mm Spanish politician/Político español en 28mm
I was about to call this miniature "Spanish politician carrying his hard-earned money to Andorra". The colours of the neck tie may recall the ones in the flag of Catalonia, but that blue shirt makes it look like the one from Valencia. Maybe I painted it this way unconsciously?
The miniature is Future Wars one bought for three € in a model shop. He's going to be (or at least I hope he will) one of the suits in my impending Shadowrun games.

¡Y Aun más bakumatsu!/ And still more bakumatsu!
It's been a while but at least i finished a handful more troops for the boshin war. At this rate I'll have a proper army by 2025, but it's ok. There are things more important than painting.

Vean ustedes:
Two months ago CH and I played this battle using WTJ's Quickfire rules. We had the idea of sorting out if we were capable of faring better than historical spaniards, but the battle changed in a really unexpected way. See it by yourselves:
The americans enter the map in a badly done battleline formation. It was an omen about what the battle would end up becoming.
Olympia leading the line, as it should be
The spaniards get tired of waiting and start moving.
El almirante americano no sabe de formaciones
The american admiral knows nothing about formations
El español, tampoco
The spanish fleet is divided into two groups which are about to clash
The glorious spanish fort serves for an american turkey shoot before exploding in the third turn. At least it dented the Baltimore (or at least it scratched its paint)
¡Increible!
Incredibly, he spaniards manage to exit the bay without going aground or bump into each other
Y los tiros empiezan... sin ningún acierto.
And shooting begins, with no scores.
Resultado:
Baltimore goes forward and receives fire from the ENTIRE spanish fleet at short distance. Result:
Baltimore a pique en el 6º turno
Baltimore to the bottom on the 6th turn
Notice that the american ships were almost continually annoying each other by blocking their line of fire.
The rest of the battle (of which we didn't take any pics) was a close range fight. The spanish flagship suffered an horrendous amount of damage before going to the bottom, and at the very end the spaniards managed to sink the last american ship with a "perfect shot". In the end the entire american fleet went to the bottom while 3 out of the four surviving spanish ships were a floating pile of junk. If I hadn't seen it I wouldn't believe it...

Imperial Guard flag/ Bandera de la Guardia Imperial
Yeah, I know: The Imperial Guard is no more, now they are the Astra Militarum or something like that. But I was in love with the original, Necromunda plastic regiments (yes, they were from Necromunda!), so I had to put a Necromundan flag on top of them.
I asked my friend CH (who is a master of digital design) to create a banner based on the ones in the old Compendium and this is what he managed to do. BTW, I haven't finally learned how to paint miniatures: someone sold it to me already painted.
Download and rescale as needed. Realize that there is an alternative back!:
This said, if someone wishes CH to draw a flag just tell me, maybe I'll be able to convince him.

Preparing some ancient SW stuff / Preparando cosas viejas de SW
Two weekends ago I came home and met CH to try to base (and in some instances paint) our friend's Cesh Stormtroopers' force. I have designed an scenario for the Star Wars Miniature Battles game which I hope they'll play while I'm away, using all the miniatures and terrain we have for that scale.
Seguiremos informando.

El elfo, el feo y el mago/ The elf, the ugly and the wizard
| Front view |
| Rear view |
As one of my friends has get hold of a caché of ancient West End Games
Star War's miniatures, I have decided painting my remaining 25mm stuff
to put it against the Empire's tiranny. From left to right you can see a
Mantic elf (yes, they are closer to 25 than to 28mm), a french dragoon
from the now-defunct Napoleon Miniatures range and a wizard which
happens to be my first miniature ever. It stayed primed for 22 years
before i finally decided to paint it.
